Eleme Petrochemical Complex

Located just outside Port Harcourt, Eleme was touted as the largest new PetroChemical facility in the World.  The subject equipment was a trio of very large Circulation Heaters for a very large Dowtherm Circulation System.  Each Heater is capable of burning five fuels concurrently - two liquid and three gaseous.  Extensive integration with the Yokagawa Plant DCS was required, as well as a rather extreme amount of work in repairing the extensive damage done by the tropical environment and magpies, as well as the hideous wiring by the locals.  Four trips to this site over a six month period were required, two of which required transporting some rather unusual parts (and clearing Customs with them!)  The OEM was North American Mfg. Co. for Struthers Wells Corporation.  The Prime Contractor was Kobe Steel Nigeria, design and licensing is by Novacor of Canada.
