Wuxi is a three hour Cab ride from Shanghai Airport - and this ride costs $48.00. Nothing quite compares to the leap of faith that is required to walk out of the relative safety of the Airport, hail a Cab and tell the Driver "Wuxi Holiday Inn please!" Subject equipment is a High Temperature Circulation Heater - circulating a mixture of Molten Salts for the purpose of evaporating and flaking Caustic Soda. The Process Heater is by Struthers Wells Corporation for Buffalo Technologies. Combustion Equipment by North American Mfg. Co. fueled with Heavy Oil. Like many of these projects, the Oil was not nearly to spec - and the filtration of the Fuel Circulation Loop was non-existent - resulting in extreme difficulty with properly measuring Fuel Flow. After three weeks of dealing with this, the Interpreter was asked to accompany the technician on a whirlwind tour of Auto Parts Stores - resulting in finding a quantity of large Truck Engine Oil Filters at an "Auto Parts Flea Market". These were installed with a rudimentary parallel Manifold and the problem disappeared long enough to prove that this was indeed the primary problem. Pictures to be posted at a future date |
